What're your questions for the world?

EXTRA INFO ABOUT THE SITE:

Hey! This blog is about asking questions that're on my mind or that people may ask me. These are not little questions really and they can have multiple answers so feel free to answer them as you see fit. The whole point of the site is to have people think about the world and the way things are. If you don't agree with something I've said tell me why with a comment (you have to have a google account), but please don't use that as a way to be obnoxious. Everything is pretty much up in the air when it comes to what you think and how you feel about something so I can't really set down any guidelines other than don't be too judgmental of another comment or of something I may have said.

Stay open-minded and hear people out. =]

Hope you enjoy and don't criticize what I'm trying to say too harshly. Although of course I'm open to criticism and debates. =]

-Asking_Why

Also...Email me @: tomiahayes@yahoo.com if you have a question you'd like to have posted on the site. Remember they have to be versatile and have many possible answers and they can't be...child-ish.

(I'm An Atheist) Is: There Anyway I'm Not Screwed After I Die? (Asked By Connor)

So, that's an interesting question. I mean, a lot of people asked about the after life, but they weren't so blunt about being atheist, or any other specific religion. Personally, I can't say whether any of that is true or not, I mean, I'm not a super natural power that controls everything the world has to offer. I can say though, that if you don't believe in such things I don't see why you should worry about it.

A person who's atheist not only has the choice to convert to any religion they want, they also have the choice to ignore all religious preferences. I say, if you're atheist not to worry about it, unless you see a religion you would like to believe. I mean, there's not much else I can say.

In my mind, no you're not screwed, but hey what do I know?

Why: Do We Cry Tears?

Tears come with many different emotions.

Anger- When you're so mad at someone or something, and that rage causes you to produce tears that you don't want but get anyway.
Sadness- When you're hurting or possibly hurt someone else and that depression forms tears in your eyes that you can't control.
Joy- When you're happy to such an extreme that tears slide down your face without you even really realizing it.

My question is, why tears? Why does this watery fluid come from our eyes in these emotional states? I'm sure there's a scientific reason, but when you think about it, doesn't it seem like too much for tears to be everywhere?

Mostly, tears are taken as a sign of weakness, fear, and sadness, yet we cry when we're happy. What's up with that? We cry over everything. Are we as human beings suppose to be portrayed as such weak mammals? Do you see other animals crying without being in pain? And then when they do "cry" there aren't tears, there are just a lot of yelping. Why're we such an emotional species?

Maybe it's just me thinking that we should be stronger than this, or maybe it's just the fact that I watch too much "Animal Planet." Either way, this is my thinking on our tears. One day we're all gonna stop crying, we're gonna sick of it all, and we'll come away a stronger species. End of story.

       But hey, you tell me...Why?

(Honestly!) Why: Don't Parents Accept Their Kids Being Gay? (Asked By Poof)

Parents are the most protective people in the world, well at least the good parents are. They feel as though they have to protect their kids from everything. Shield them from the world itself. Sometimes though, in doing so, they fail to realize that a child, teen, or young adult, is gonna branch out on their own eventually and find their own interests. A lot of people these days are religious. Religious parents never want their children to be gay. They have the mind set of "If my child's gay they're going to burn in hell." I've always wondered if they ever took the time to think to themselves "My child has been exposed to all the religiousness I've been exposed to, have they thought about the possible consequences?" Maybe if they thought about that they'd realize that a lot the time we do.

Now, we all know about the religious parents. They fear for our souls. What is to become of us after death for being gay. But then, there's also the major homo-phobes. The parents who talk about gay people day in and day out never giving gay people a chance at being liked. Gays with parents like that never really can get through to them. Everything a gay is in that parent's mind is filth, disgust, and wrong. There's no accepting to them, there's just getting rid of.

My point is, parents can't accept what they're not open to. The two biggest examples are above. And sometimes even when they do accept it, they don't like it. It's not fair. I have a lot of experience with that. It hurts more than they know, but they think the hurt of us being gay is worse. And really who are we to tell them it's not?

But you tell me world...why can't they accept us?

How: Are People Suppose To Be?

How are people suppose to be? What exactly is the social standard for living your life? WHAT A QUESTION! Hmm, why didn't I think of this before?

1st: Let's ask ourselves how we INDIVIDUALLY think people should be.
2nd: Let's ask ourselves how everyone else SEES US.
3rd: Think about the DIFFERENCES and the SIMILARITES.

With all of that on you're mind....think about how selfish you are and how selfish the world is as a whole. Think about how people judge you and try to change you. Think about how people don't accept what they don't understand. Think about religions and schools and all kinds of beliefs.

There is NO way to be! There is the just the way you ARE. And nothing's wrong with that. Hitler wanted the perfect world..Did he get it? No, of course not. If he got his way our population would be close to none by now, if not none already!

If you wouldn't change for someone why would change for society itself? Is that fair to you? No...Not at all. For every gay person out there I'd just like to say, you're a great example of what I'm talking about. If the world had their way we wouldn't be here. There'd be no such thing as GAY PRIDE. Thing is we don't think about how people WANT us to be. We think about how WE WANT TO BE and we stick with it.

Like I said...There's is no one every person is suppose to be. It's about how you want to be. That's just me though...You tell me. How are people suppose to be?

If: God Doesn't Give You More Than You Can Handle, Why Do People Commit Suicide? (Asked By Meghan)

Alright, so this is a sensitive question because of the religious attachment. I'm not saying that suicide isn't a big thing, but when you add God into the picture a whole lot more is involved. Now...Let the madness begin.

Now since this question is religion based I have to answer it in such a way. In the bible it says that God doesn't give us more than we can handle, but who's to say we all know what that means? Some people may not realize that they haven't even reached their limit when they think about suicide. They may just think about "the now", the moment when they want to get out, away from all the problems that seem to pile up too high to think about.

Suicide is based on pure emotion. Emotion that overpowers people from deep within themselves. Be it from anger or depression, it's still powerful emotions that are balled up inside of people. When things happen to push people to that point, God isn't always in the forefront of their minds. Now, I must say a lot of people do pray, read their bibles, or think about WJWD (What Jesus Would Do), but that's not everyone.

The best answer I can give about this particular subject is that people go with what their emotions tell them to do. Just because God doesn't give us more than we can handle doesn't mean we don't always feel as if it IS more than we can handle. That's just how we're made. We don't think about how much worse it could be...And if we are suicidal and thinking about how much worse it could be, we get it into our minds that it's GOING TO BE that much worse soon. Case in point, we may be able to handle it...we just choose not to!

But hey, that's just how I see it. What do you think readers?

What: Is A Promise?

I've always been told that keeping a promise is the one thing you should always do. My brother doesn't realize this but one day he will get the $50 I owe him, we made a deal, a type of promise, or oath, and I'm going to give him the money I owe him. My parents always tell me that if they promise me something they'll do whatever they can to make it happen, because of that statement I wish they'd promise me a lot of things. Maybe then I would feel a lot better about the things they tell me. Maybe I'd trust it a little more. Really...What is there to trust? Parents say things they don't mean all the time...They say tell their children that they say things they don't mean, but what could they be talking about? The things the child holds on to, keeping them close to their hearts, or the not so meaningful things? What a question...

A promise is sacred. An oath you give to someone. It's something for the person to hold on to. When you break a promise you break someone's spirit...You break their heart really. So why break a promise? Why promise something at all if you know you can't keep that promise in the first place?...So many questions.

I feel like I'm venting in this so I'm going to end here. Tell me. What IS a promise?

Is: There Such Thing As A Happy Birthday?

I feel as if "Happy Birthday" is a false statement. Is there really such thing as a "Happy" birthday?... Today's my birthday, and I feel as though everything's turned against me. I don't feel like today's as happy as people tell me it is. My birthday...My birthday. Who would've thought that I'd be here typing this entry about how my birthday turned out to be one of the worst days of my life. I've never cared about the presents, the people all around, or the fact that I've even aged a year. I just never want to be burdened by the people in my life...But I feel as though every year the same thing happens: I end up crying myself to sleep.

My grandmother past away on my birthday years ago...it's always stuck with me. It's never going to leave me. There's no way for it to. Just with that being on my brain every year is enough to drive someone like me to tears...every year when I wake up at midnight to wish myself a "Happy" birthday. That's not the only thought that comes to mind every year...There's another that's on my mind almost everyday. The fact of growing older and still being the same. The same person everyone seems to be ashamed of. Sure, the family doesn't say it, but the way they all act towards me...A complete stranger would be able to see it. It's sad when an acquaintance comes up to you and asks if you're alright after they see how much of an oddball you are in your family, how much you're family treats you as a kind of outsider, even those who swear up and down they never will.

All I'm trying to say is...maybe there is such a thing as a "Happy Birthday"...Maybe someone in the world has one every year with nothing going wrong. MAYBE. Just maybe. I just know that's not how this is going for me. It went great at first...I didn't think anything would change my mind...But now as I write this I'm close to tears...Just like I am every year. EVERY year. If someone asked me what my birthday wish was I'd say: To have a "Happy Birthday".....You'd think that's an easy thing to be done, but October 25th is proof that that's not true at all.

I'm telling you I don't believe in "Happy Birthday" but hey...You're not me I'm not you. Is there such thing as a Happy Birthday? You tell me....

How: Can We Be So Sure That There's Life After Death? (Asked by Cole)

       FIRST OF ALL:

   We aren't sure of anything!

Now, a lot of people have asked this question in different ways. At first I wasn't gonna answer it due to that fact, but I decided I should make something very clear: WE DON'T KNOW ANYTHING!

If we KNEW do you think people would do the things that they do now? Would they be so in the wrong knowing of what was to come? People AREN'T that stupid! THE WORLD IS THE WAY IT IS BECAUSE WE DON'T KNOW ANYTHING!

    SECOND OF ALL:

What is it with you all asking the same question?

Look, I don't want to answer the same questions over and over again. When you're thinking of a question maybe you should look at my site before asking to see if some derivative of the question has already been asked. If you don't do that then you're gonna end up with one of these, where I'm kind of annoyed (no offense to you Cole), I don't enjoy repeating myself so frequently.

     THIRDLY:

A lot you seem worried about this...so...

If you're all so worried about the afterlife if there is one, is there something you need to get off your chest? Are you worried that you won't make it? This is just what I see from all these questions. If so you need to think about yourself for a little while. Just saying!

But hey world! What do you think the answer is to this?

Why: Are People More Afraid of Darkness Then Light? (Asked by Amar)

       Hmm. What an interesting question.

This brings me to think about the definitions of dark and light, as well as black and white.

Dark: sinister; evil: a dark purpose
Black: lacking hue and brightness; absorbing light without reflecting any of the rays composing it.

Light: an illuminating agent or source, as the sun, a lamp, or a beacon.
White: a color of pure snow, of the margins of this page, etc; reflecting nearly all rays of sunlight or a similar light.

Now, looking at those definitions, which do you think would appeal to most people on a  regular basis? (Don't even think about pulling the race card with this one!) I'm just trying to say that when things are bright or light people are drawn more to it. There's nothing to really be afraid of, or at least that's not the first thing that we think --> "Oh no it's bright turn away turn away!" is never our first response. It's always "Hmm dark cave or light cave? LIGHT CAVE." that's just how life is!

If there wasn't for how we see blackness we wouldn't fear it so much. Being afraid of the dark or "darkness" as Amar put it, is a part of human nature. Think about it, when we were little kids how many of us has night lights? I know I did! As we grew older we learned to tolerate the dark. Or at least that's how I see it. I still have my moments when I have to put my head under the cover, hiding from things that aren't even there (Yea yea funny shut up). Even adults try to front sometimes. They're just lucky they have someone else in their room most of the time.

That's pretty much all the answer I can give you, considering I don't know everything or even want to. So my dear readers tell me what you think. Why're people are of dark rather then light?

What: Is A Stupid Question?

Now, a lot of people say that there are no stupid questions. Many school teachers inform there students of that on a daily basis. Some elaborate and say "The only stupid question is the question not asked" <-- does that even make any sense? How is it stupid if it was never asked in the first place? I completely disagree with the whole "there are no stupid questions" thing. I think it's just a bunch of b.s we feed children when they're younger. I mean, sure, it's a good thing to inquire, I'm not saying we shouldn't ask questions...I'm just saying... THERE IS ALWAYS A STUPID QUESTION.

Let me explain my thinking a little for you all. I've been going to public schools all my life, and a lot of the time people say that the private school people get a better education BLAH BLAH BLAH, but today I heard a question that made me write this. During a VOLLEYBALL game right after the announcer said "WELCOME TO EAGLE VIEW VOLLEYBALL!" really loud over the intercom, a girl turned to her mother and asked "So, what's this sport called?"....I know what you're thinking...Maybe she was trying to be funny? Wrong. She had the blankest look on her face. She was completely confused. Maybe she was young? Wrong. She looked to be  around 13 or 14. Maybe she's "slow"? HA! Obviously. I wasn't the only one who heard this ridiculous question. People all around focused there attention on her, the girl's own mother just sat there staring at her like she didn't know what the girl had asked....What did I do? LAUGH.

For the record, I'm not trying to be mean. I'm just saying....There are stupid questions whether you choose to believe it or not. They are everywhere. That was just my example for today. On several other occasions I'd encountered other "slow" individuals, who went and asked similar questions a lot like the girls, and honestly before I even thought about answering there question I had to laugh. It's just in my nature. Just to clear the air, I had to put that out there. It bothered me to think that so many people go around asking so many dumb questions all the time. If you're one of these people...No, don't go and try to be offended now, you're the one not thinking. Don't blame me for your obtuseness.

Anyway....What is a stupid question? I know you all have heard one once before....

Is: Being High Wrong?

Now, a lot of you would say "Yes" right off the bat, because drugs are wrong. Just hear me out though. What do you consider to be a drug? Do you just think of narcotics? Well, that's not how it is for me. I consider a lot of things to be a "drug". For example: Mountain Dew. Or Oreos are what I would consider a "drug" for me. I'm completely "addicted" to them. When I eat oreos or drink Mt. Dew I have a high that no one can really take me down from. I feel better then I did or had. Would you consider that to be a bad thing?
Then there are people who can give me a high. No I'm not talking about drug dealers. I mean, people I love that make me feel like I'm floating. Like I'm on top of the world and no one can bring me down. And there are those who make me feel lower than low (which can also happen when you're high). Does anyone get what I'm trying to say here? High doesn't have to just be a bad thing. Of course drugs are bad blah blah blah. But what about that natural high feeling we people get everyone in a while. When we're happier than happy? Is that wrong to? It's being high.
There's a difference in highs. There's the frowned upon high that a lot of people still partake in anyway. And then there's the I feel very good about myself and what's going on around me high. I'd like to say as a person who know what that feels like that that's far from being frowned upon. But as always this is just my opinion. Read the question and interpret it however you would like. Just take into consideration what I just said, maybe it'll help you see things from a different perspective.
Anyway, tell me what you think...Is it wrong?

Why: Do We Make Excuses For Ourselves?

What's with all the excuses? Especially when it comes from an "important" person. Why do we have to make excuses for the things we say or do? If we feel a certain way about a subject why should we make an excuse for feeling that way? When you're in love with someone, and for whatever reason someone close to you doesn't approve, do you  make excuses for why you're in love? Or do you stick to that person anyway, not really caring what anyone has to say?
I don't think we should live with excuses pressing us everywhere we turn. If you don't wanna to do something, say it! If you feel strongly about something and no one agrees, don't make an excuse to not follow along, tell them why! I mean...Everyone has a opinion, but really the only opinion that matters in the end is yours. How you feel is more important than how anyone else does. Point. Blank. Period.
To be honest I made this post because I asked someone a very simple yes or no question, and they made up a very elaborate (too elaborate) excuse about it. All I could help thinking was "Dude just say YES OR NO." Of course that's not what happened. In the end I just said "Stop making up excuses! Why are you making excuses?" Now it doesn't matter. Their answer was no. That's all I was asking for!
Anyway...Here's another question for you guys...Why?

What: Is Creation? (Asked By Dr. Reed Goode)

Creation...We use this term quite a bit. Like when we're showing something we've made: "Look at my creation." But more times than not when we think about creation we think about the world and how we can about and more importantly we think about God. Well, at least that's how I saw this question.
Are we creation? The world we live in..the whole universe? Were we something someone said "Look at my creation!" for? Was every detail thought about to such an extent that our whole lives have been planned ahead of time? This one question: "What Is Creation?" brings about so many more questions that we'll have to mull over to answer it. Our brains may have also been someone's genius creation as well...you never know.
Now, like all people I've created something I was proud of, whether it was a poem, a story, a picture, or a silly dance. With that being said it's obvious that a creation can be anything, but that's not the point of the question here I don't believe. What is creation? What is creation AS A WHOLE. What was the starting point? Was it us? The human beings, animals, and plants, all scattered around this planet we call Earth. That's very possible. We could've appeared in a blink of an eye. *blink* Oh there goes the world!
Honestly, I have no real way to attempt to answer this question. BUT one thing I do know is that creation is always something beautiful to the creator.
Never mind what I think though, what do YOU think creation is?

Why: Are Our Emotions So Strong?

Now, don't take this question as me making emotions out to be a bad thing. That's not what I'm trying to do at all. I'm just..wondering..why we feel soo deeply. If we didn't we probably wouldn't be hurt as much. Then again if we didn't we wouldn't be as happy as we can be.
Take what I'm asking from the view point of a depressed person. They feel depression very strongly obviously, right? Well why? Why do they feel that way? There are obviously a large amount of reasons, but I'd like to know how they end up feeling it so much stronger than everyone else. As well as people who get angry fast. Of course, these are both negative perspectives of strong emotion.
Now there's happiness and love too. Which are positive emotions...Then again that all depends on what exactly you're in love (or whom) and what you're happy about. Like someone who's obsessed. Why are they? What makes them love or hate whatever it is so much?
I don't know if this makes sense to anyone out there..But it's just a thought; a question for the world.
       So tell me..Why?

How: Should We Express Ourselves? By Our Choices Or Our Abilities? (Asked By Sierra)

Our expressions are an extension of ourselves. Whatever we do to express ourselves is how we know what our true colors are. Really the way you choose to express yourself doesn't matter. But what you do while you're being expressive is.
This question for me can't really be answered with a firm answer. There's no way to justify everyone expressing themselves in one way. Expression is like imagination. No one can tell how to do it. It's all your own. So if you choose to express yourself with a choice is up to you. If you choose to express yourself by ability that's all you. No one can tell you otherwise.
Of course many people may disagree with me...And if you do please feel free to explain why. This is only my opinion of the question! So go ahead and tell me...How should we express ourselves?

What: Is More Important? Appearance Or Substance? (Asked By Connor)

To answer this question honestly you have to think about the type of person you are. Are you the type of person who thinks mostly about outer appearance or do you look at personality and the type of person they are. People these days are among the shallowest. They don't see a person for WHO they are, they see them for WHAT they are. Which is unfair, wrong, and hurtful.
Someone's appearance can change. Take make-up for example. A girl can do A LOT with make-up... She can completely hide what she looks like from day to day and you wouldn't even know. As for guys they can be just as fake as a girl. They can hide their true interests and be who they think you want them to be. A girl can do the exact same thing, and really they probably do it more. What I'm trying to say is, with all of that, people can end up hurt, very quick.
Who someone IS, is different than who they WANT to be or who YOU want them to be. When you're open enough to let someone be who they truly are then you're relationship will be stronger. No one will have to pretend with the other. There won't be anything to hide because everything will be out on the table. That seems pretty simple...but for a lot of people, trust me it ISN'T.
Now that's just relationships...With ANYTHING this question can be asked to. But to make it simple...Or the question at least...Would you rather have something LOOK really good...or would you rather have it WORK really good? Well that's the best I can dumb it down (no offense).
So answer the question...Appearance or Substance?

Why: Do People Think When People Die They're In A Better Place When Really They're Away From The People They Love? (Asked By Anonymous)

"I See Life As A Gift From God.
Now That He Wants It Back I See No Right To Complain"
-Joyce Cary

Life I believe is a gift. A gift that isn't suppose to be just given back (suicide) or taken back by force (murder) it's suppose to be...surrendered. People die because of many reasons. From sickness to natural causes.  When someone dies, people all say "Well now at least they're in a better place," is it because they are  trying to hide the pain they're in or do they genuinely believe that?
When someone's dying I don't believe they're all too worried about the people they're leaving behind here...Especially religious people who believe they're going to Heaven. They'll be HAPPY to surrender their life back to God (or whatever higher power they believe in). I also think it's kind of selfish of the people they were close to, to think that they should still be alive. I'm not saying I haven't done that (I have), but I've come to realize...Being alive here on Earth isn't a walk in the park. If they get to escape this place, then we should be happy, no matter if you're religious or not, this is a good practice.
I don't know if there's an "After Life" but I do know that life itself is complicated, tiring, pain inflicting, saddening, maddening, etc and with all those jumble of emotions, why not embrace death when it calls you? You'll be at PEACE....Helloooo "REST IN PEACE". So who knows if someone is going to a better place? But what right do we have to say they should still be with us?
Those are just my thoughts...Why do you think?
**For Joshua William Walter....A boy who went to a better place...Feb '97-'11**

Why: Question The World?

First off, if scientists can do it why can't I? I mean, we all have questions obviously, questions that hold out attention a lot more than others, so why not have them broadcast and let other people mull them over as well? Questioning the world is pretty much what we've be doing for a long time. That's all we humans do. We question everything that goes on around us.
Now, I'd just like to say...According to the Bible, we were suppose to be a blind people (well technically) and if it weren't for the whole "Eve you just screwed all of women with pregnancy pains" thing aka the apple from the garden, we probably wouldn't ask questions. How that would work...I wouldn't know. If we didn't question everything little thing would the world run smoother? I don't know. All I know is that because we aren't blind we ask questions about everything.
Also, if it weren't for questions we wouldn't have any answers. We wouldn't know anything about ourselves or other people. We wouldn't be able to debate, you know prove right and wrong. So why not question the world? Why not question everything? Just because we question them doesn't mean they're wrong
But why do you question the world?

What: IS The Box? (Asked By Meghan)

"Think Outside The Box!"

What is the box?...We grow up all our lives with teachers who tell us that thinking out of the box is what we need to do, thinking out of the box is what everyone needs to do. So if everyone is thinking outside the box, doesn't mean that everyone is still thinking the same way? Which means, we're never really escaping the box. At least, we didn't escape when we wrote all of those essays throughout the years.
"Think outside the box!" is a nice way of saying: "You're smarter than that stop thinking like the (for the lack of a better word) dumb people." In my opinion though...If you're telling so many people throughout the world to out think one box...Aren't you putting them into another? Can we really escape a box if we're just being placed into a slightly larger one? Or is it slightly smaller? If it's smaller then we're all never thinking outside of anything now are we? Some people might say that I thought out of the box when making this blog site, but did I really? Or did I just enter a new level of boxness (yes, I did just make up that word).
The box is...the box is the normal way of doing things. The box is what everyone else seems to do. The box is the minimum amount of effort that we have to put into things. The box is not standing out in a crowd. The box is just getting by. The box is the people who don't care enough to want to overachieve. Now don't get me wrong...I see nothing wrong with the box if working is not your thing! For other people being the best is all they want. Take my friend for example. His brain waves just might be align completely different with the rest of the world. The kid is absolutely one of the smartest people I know. He thinks out of the box so much he's made it to the 5th level. And that's okay. But that's not for everyone.
Okay, so I should put this disclaimer out there....I'm not trying to call anyone stupid, slow, or dumb. I'm just saying if inside the box is where you wanna be, then have it! If you're slowly making your way to different levels of other boxes, that's good for you! :)
Anyway, be you a box thinker, or an out of the box thinker, tell me in your own words...WHAT IS THE BOX?!

How: Can Beauty Only Be Skin Deep If Someone's Soul Is Beautiful? (Asked By Bashiri)

"Beauty Is In The Eyes Of The Beholder"

Now, a lot of people are...blind. When I say blind I mean they can't see past another person's face. Beauty is not only skin deep, for people who take the time to look at someone's soul they get a love that's strong. For other's who do not...they can surely just get heartbreak.
Shallow people for one, aren't worth the time of those who are genuinely looking for love. If they can't take the time to see deeper into someone's heart then they can't truly be looking for love.
But that's just what I think about that subject...What do you
think??
